USPS Vehicle Maintenance Facility

Located on a 10-acre suburban site near an interstate highway, the Harrisburg Vehicle Maintenance Facility (VMF) of the United States Postal Service contains 24,000 square feet of enclosed space. It has a steel frame, and is faced with brick and precast concrete trim.

The VMF is a comprehensive facility for servicing, maintaining and repairing all Postal Service-owned vehicles in the Harrisburg region, from local delivery vehicles to trailer trucks.

The VMF was constructed to support the operation of a nearby General Mail Facility. The General Mail Facility, also designed by Murray Associates Architects, P.C. and one of the largest in the United States, encompasses in excess of 600,000 square feet of enclosed space.

The VMF houses twelve regular service bays, a body shop bay, a paint bay, a wash bay, truck fueling and oil recycling facilities, offices and storage.
